Indufor developed a wood supply strategy for a private client on a planned greenfield pulp mill in the Krasnoyarsk region in Russia in 2020, using satellite-aided forest inventory and remote sensing.
The work included an analysis of forest resources within the client’s forest areas proposed for leasing, as well as the potential non-allocated forest areas within an economically feasible area around the planned mill site. In addition, the existing harvesting logistics were analysed and the professional personnel needs were identified.
Indufor also analysed the potential supply of pulpwood and processing residues from the regional market including local sawmills in the region. The overall wood supply target was around 5 million m3 of raw material.
The analysis of forest resources was implemented with the use of satellite aided forest inventory by our partner Arbonaut Ltd, Finland, in an area covering over 2 million ha.
