The project, implemented in the North-Western and Muchinga Provinces of Zambia 2015-2018, aimed to lay the foundations for a devolved sustainable forest and other natural resources management system. The development objective of the project was to reduce poverty and inequality, and improve the environment through devolved integrated sustainable forest and other natural resource management.
Village consultation during project preparation
The project developed sustainable Forest and Natural Resources Management (FNRM) models that can be scaled up and implemented in a wider programme with the long-term vision of providing rural communities with improved livelihoods through fully devolved sustainable forest and other natural resources management system by 2026. The project also brought tangible results and benefits to the communities and, at the same time, enhanced the district administration in sustainable FNRM.
