Ms Petra Mikkolainen holds a master’s degree in Tropical Ecology from the University of Turku in Finland (2006), and a bachelor’s degree on Biodiversity Conservation and Management from the Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology (DICE), University of Kent, UK (2004). Her areas of expertise are social and environmental issues including community-based conservation, participatory processes involving Indigenous Peoples and ethnic minorities, adaptation to climate change, food security, rural development, as well as project cycle management, with a special focus on civil society initiatives. Prior to joining Indufor in 2014 she has worked as a long-term consultant in bilateral development cooperation programmes financed by the MFA of Finland in South-East Asia and Latin America, and in the European Commission. She is fluent in Finnish, English, Spanish and French.
