Finland’s Minister for International Development Heidi Hautala visited the National Forest Resource Assessment project in Nepal on 3 December.
Minister Heidi Hautala participated in the measurements of a field sample plot and in a social survey meeting in the Thaprek village in Tanahun, near Pokhara. Indufor provides the technical assistance to this project in collaboration with the Finnish Forest Research Institute, Geoids/Genesis Ltd of Kathmandu, and Arbonaut Oy. Hautala, who has a M.Sc. in Agriculture and Forestry showed a keen interest in the work of the project, especially how local villagers and women make use in their daily lives of the various plants found in the nearby forest.
