Indufor has recruited the following new staff.
Kaisu Annala, Senior Consultant, holds a master´s degree in wood chemistry (M.Sc., Eng) from the Helsinki University of Technology (1982).
She has a wide experience in international forest industry implementation projects and studies throughout the mill life cycle. She has led environmental and innovation teams and participated in the strategy work in globally operating organizations. In addition to the Nordic countries, her major assignments have been located in Portugal, Uruguay, Latvia, Australia, United States, Thailand and South Africa. Besides the latest pulp mill technology in its all areas (fibre, energy, chemicals, environment etc.), biorefineries, Cleantech, water reuse and sustainability in general are close to her heart. Her key competences include quality, environmental and energy efficiency management and assessment, as well as stakeholder relations and communications.
Sepul K. Barua, Consultant – Forest Policy, is about to finish his doctoral degree (D.Sc.) in forest economics and policy from the University of Helsinki, Finland. He spent a semester as a visiting doctoral student at the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, Yale University, New Haven, USA. Sepul K. Barua did his master’s degree in Forest Economics and Policy from the University of Helsinki (2007), and bachelor’s degree in Forestry from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh.
Sepul K. Barua has experience of both research and consulting in the area of natural resource and environmental economics and policy. His key expertise includes forest economic modelling; forest and environmental taxation; forest, environmental and climate change economics and policy; economics and policy of tropical deforestation; REDD+ policy; payment for environmental services. Prior to joining Indufor in 2012, he worked as a researcher at the Helsinki University Center for Environment (HENVI). During his earlier studies he worked in Indufor in 2006 and 2007.
Sepul is fluent in English, Bengali and Chittagonian.
In addition, Indufor has strengthened the administrative team.
Heidi Hirviaho, Secretary, has a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management from Satakunta Polytechnic (2003). She has also studied as Multilingual Management Assistant at Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences.
She is responsible for providing daily secretarial and assistant services at the Indufor office. She is fluent in Finnish, English and Swedish and competent in German.
