Indufor Carries out a Study on Forest Financing in African Countries and in Least Developed Countries

August 23, 2012

Indufor is carrying out an assessment on forest financing in Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and in African countries, contracted by the United Nations Forum on Forests Secretariat (UNFFs).

The study includes four macro level papers and four country case studies. The study will focus on current financing mechanisms and the level of financing flows, demand for forest finance and the related gaps and opportunities. It will improve the understanding on forest investments and financing in LDCs and in African countries.  The analysis is linked to similar types of studies carried out by Indufor in 2010 on forest financing in Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Low Forest Cover Countries (LFCC). Together the set of studies provides a crucial base of information for the UNFF´s Facilitative Process on forest financing that aims to mobilise funding from all sources.
