Indufor and CHIP Training and Consulting Start Working on Pakistan’s REDD+ Strategy and Implementation Framework

Majella Clarke from Indufor and Muhammad Tayyab from CHIP Training and Consulting (CTC) met with the Chief Minister from Giligit Baltistan, Mr Hafiz Hafeez UR Rehman. Mr Syed Mahmood Nasir, Inspector General Forests, and Mr Kamran Hussain from the National REDD+ Office facilitated the meeting.

In the meeting, the roles of forests in the energy sector were discussed, and the meeting sought support from the Government in the development of the national REDD+ Strategy.

Gilgit-Baltistan is located in the North of Pakistan sharing a border with Afghanistan, China and India, and has important forest resources, mainly in mountainous landscapes.
